Ethics Statement



My College App Coach (MCAC) will strive to find the best fit school for you.    We will work with you and your family in exploring options, developing a plan to achieve your objectives and helping you throughout the college application process.  In return, we would require your commitment to the process,  completing your own applications and meeting both our internal and external deadlines.


My College App Coach associates will adhere to the IECA Principles of Good Practice which state the following:
  • Competence - MCAC associates will practice within the boundaries of their competence which they update continuously.  They will refer to colleagues if your requests are outside their competence.
  • Conflict of Interests - MCAC associates shall avoid any conflict of interest and/or multiple relationships with School/Programs.  In the event of any multiple relationship or even the appearance of conflict of interest, a full disclosure will be provided to all involved.
  • Relationships with Students and Families-
    • MCAC associates will treat you and your family/guardians with utmost respect and will not discriminate based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, language, religion, ethnicity, disability, national origin or socioeconomic status.
    • The main responsibility of MCAC associates is to provide you with professional guidance in the college placement process.  During the process, MCAC associates may communicate with other professionals including School/Program admissions officers, other consultants and therapists in addition to your parents/guardians. Importantly, MCAC associates will hold strict confidentiality policy and will only disclose data with written consent and on a need-to-know basis.  These principles will be maintained in marketing materials and will not include identifiable client reference publically.
    • MCAC associates will be forthright of their services and fees  - before services are rendered to you and will make no guarantees of placement or outcomes.
  • Relationship with Colleges/Programs/Schools -  MCAC associates will neither accept nor solicit compensation from Schools/Programs for the purpose of recommending the school or placing you.  They will abide to the  IECA Code of Conduct which allows in certain circumstances for the colleges to reimburse customary expenses related to the college visit.
  • Relationship to other Independent Consultants- MCAC will not receive referral monies by other consultants and will accept payment for work performed.   Exception to this may be in the case of formal ongoing business relationship with partners and  associates or when a referral is considered more beneficial to you, our client.
  • Advertising and Public Statements - MCAC associates will represent themselves honestly and will not make disparaging public remarks about any school, college, program or other IEC consultant.


Elizete Groenendaal MBA, founder of My College App Coach, is currently enrolled in the UCLA Certificate of College Counseling.   She will be a member of Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and will adhere by the professionals ethics and standards of the ICEA professional organization.      These also reflect those of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC).
