The
SAT Subject Tests (https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat-subject-tests)
measure your knowledge on specific
subject matter in Math, Science, History, English and Languages. There are 20 Subject Tests to choose from such
as Math (1 and 2), Sciences (Biology, Chemistry), English, History (US,
European) and over 10 Languages. These
tests should be taken when you complete these classes throughout your high school years.
Why
should you take Subject Tests?
· Many selective universities require up to 3 subject
tests, depending on the major you are applying. For example, engineering applicants
should submit a Science or Math Subject Test. Note
that some selective universities waive this requirement if you submit the ACT. It is key that you check on the admissions
website for the specific requirements of the school.
· While it is optional in many universities, it can
boost your application if you submit a strong subject test.
In
sum, subject tests do not provide college credit like the AP Tests do, yet,
they may provide an extra boost to your college application.
